In a way it feels like not a lot has been going on here in the brumland recently, which is part of my reason for no-show on the posting front, but as you will soon see, rather more has happened than expected....
Take last thursday, for example. What I expected to be a rather same-y day at work, followed by a long lonely night in (the Lovely had packed himself off home for the Peterborough Beer Festival), turned into a rather fun time with the lovely Lanterloo. Initally we said it was only to be one drink....
Two pints, a shoe shopping trip, a ma-hoo-sive plate of chow mein and half a bottle of wine later I arrived home and promptly crashed out in front of the telly, waking up at half past 11 with the realisation that perhaps my bed would be a better place to sleep!
These were the two pairs I ummed and aaahed over:

(to the point of phoning the lovely whilst he was actually at the beer festival and asking him what he thought!) but I ended up choosing the first pair [although that's not to say I may not go back sometime this week and buy the second pair!]This weekend saw the 25th wedding anniversary of a very good friend of mine, which meant a trip down to Bristol (which was quite a funny journey as I'll explain in a minute) and then an absolutely mamoth baking session on saturday morning which saw me produce just over 60 scones in a number of batches. Unfortunately, just as I was about to start, I realised that the ever faithful pastry cutters that my mum has used since I was teeny tiny are no longer in my mum's house. They're in my house. In Birmingham.
Luckily, we have quite a lot of people in the village we can call on in times of need so it wasn't long before I was back on the scone making train!
The party was fab, with a festival theme (as the friend is also my old singing teacher). The party started at 4, with Pimms, followed by afternoon tea, a couple of sessions in the marquee (did I mention that the entertainment was provided by all the guests?!), buffet dinner, more spots, and who knows what happened after that - I was picked up at 10pm by my brother so missed the end of the party. But actually, though I was sad to leave, it was definately better to leave the party on a high than be sitting there wishing I was at home!
Ah yes, the adventure on the journey home (as in from home to parents home)... The sad part is that we got caught up at the front of a traffic jam just south of gloucester, and by the looks of the cars as we drove past it wasn't a particuarly delicate crash. However, because we right at the front (I'd say maybe four cars back), we were waiting for quite a long time. Hilarity ensued when the woman in the car next to us got out of her car and opened both the front and back door. This led quite quickly to some speculation - was she, or wasn't she having a pee on the inside lane (as thats where her car was). Our suspicions were confirmed when, getting back into her car, she gave a little wiggle, OBVIOUSLY pulling up her trousers.
Oh
My
Word
The laughter could not be stopped. In the car behind us were two lads who quite merrily honked the horn, drawing even mor eattention to the woman, who looked straight ahead with a steely glare on her face....
Forever that day shall go down in history as "the day the woman peed on the motorway"
But its not all toilet jokes.... Honest....
This week should be good, as I'm back to choir tomorrow (Berlioz and Prokofiev this time round), have some friends round on saturday for a couple of birthday drinks and maybe some cake, and then on sunday I get to open presents! Yay! Oh and my parents are coming to visit.... But presents! (Not that I am in anyway materialistic you understand) The Lovely has been taunting me, pretending first of all to forget it, then to pretend to be going to see a football game... I'm also intrigued by my mum's gift, as when we were in Wells on sunday, she bought this box [which I can't find online but which is Emma Bridgewater and says "A Nice Present" on it] and all I know is that she plans on filling it by sunday....
Have a lovely week - mine will also involve thinking up my "22 before 23" which is something I've seen other people doing, so figured I'd give it a go myself!

1 people other than me read this:
Oooh, it sounds like you have been busy. I'm stunned at the motorway woman though - I would have to be SERIOUSLY desperate before I'd do that!
Happy birthday preparations ...
