The result of my trials? Easter Cupcakes!
(who cares that they're a week late?)
It was good not just for my stomach (and the Lovely's for that matter), but also because I got to use my cupcake stand. I must remember to use it as a prop more often; what's the point of having it otherwise?
I managed to get a lovely picture (at least so I feel), just as the light was fading, of the cakes next to some Daffs I got for cheaps in Co-Op on friday...
I can't believe the speed at which they've gone from tiny tight buds to beautiful blooms. It reminds me again of just how much flowers cheer up a house and how much I love having them around!
And one more lovely thing from this weekend... the Lovely's mum and dad came to visit, along with his granny and grandad and we went for a delicious pub lunch just down the road. Coming back to the house, the Lovely's Dad brought out the frame we'd asked him to make for us for a map we bought from Stanford's at Christmas.
Isn't it the most beautiful frame you've ever seen? And the fact that he managed to match the wood stain to the (mdf) bookcases was even more amazing. A moment to really revel in just how amazing handmade things are :)
And how have you been recently?

I have a friend who is a framer. Very very clever people, framers are.
I love your cake stand; we were watching that new antiques programme on BBC2 last night and shouting at the annoying presenters who were trying to convince some poor woman to buy a hideous cakestans and make a (very expensive) table out of old planks that she was getting some absolute bargains. Ummm, no.
Oh my goodness those cupcakes look gorgeous! mmm, so yummy! You are quite the Domestic Goddess ;) The frame is lovely.
They look perfect! Yum.
The frame is beautiful, I love maps.
Mmmm - those cupcakes look awesome (especially on their pretty stand)! The frame is lovely, too.
I've just been making cakes from the Hummingbird book too - the strawberry cheesescake cupcakes and the carrot cake. I'm sure the chef at the Orangery in Burghley House has got a copy of that book too as many of the cakes and muffins seemed to come from there. Love your cake stand - want one!
