A tea set comprising of one milk jug, five cups and seven saucers
The milk jug
The cups in more detail
Why the odd numbers? Well, very many moons ago I went to a wedding anniversary party where afternoon tea was served. The hostess had spent months previously trawling local charity shops for tea sets, claiming anthing she saw and then spread the wealth amongst those she knew would appreciate it afterwards.
They've been put on the top of our large bookcase as we don't have any other shelf space available! I now have designs on getting more sets and put a mix match up there, although I will confess that the Lovely is less convinced!
My new-job treat to myself
So theoretically this should have been bought once I'd received my first pay packet, but that isn't until the end of the month, and given that I'm using it on a weekly basis at the moment, it made a lot more sense for me to buy it now (obviously!). I'd like to say that as a result of this I won't be buying myself a treat when the pay packet does come through, but I think we all know that won't stick!I loved this book when I was younger, reading from the copy that my mum had had when she was a little. For some reason I'd not read it in years and it had sorted drifted out of my consciousness. Then, when on the train last monday morning I discovered that there were only ten pages left in the book I was reading, obviously I had to find a bookshop and pick up something new. Well, why get something new when you can get something old yet much loved? It was definitely worth reading again, and although I do have a large, large pile of books to read, its spurred me on to re-read some of my other favourites...
Have a lovely wednesday

6 people other than me read this:
tea in propers cups and saucers is always so grown up! especially if they don't all match, go for it, sneak in a few more sets xxx
Love, love, love those teacups and the bag. And I picked up an identical version of The Hobbit along with the other 3 books in an unopened box set from a charity shop the other week - I'm ashamed to confess that I haven't read them before so am about to remedy that.
Ah, lovely teacups - and such a kind thought of your hostess!
I have to confess I've never made it all the way through The Hobbit. I know, it's utterly inexcusable.
Such a pretty tea set, and I love The Hobbit - one of my childhood favorites, too!
I'm glad you're back!
It's so nice to surround yourself with pretty things. I love re-reading old favorites, too, even with a stack of new books waiting.
